AIChildSafety.org
A nonprofit research, implementation, and advocacy organization I founded in March 2025, working to ensure AI amplifies rather than diminishes children's capacity to think, learn, and create. It builds the evidence base and evaluation standards for AI products children use, and advises companies, governments, and funders. AIChildSafety.org is the operating name of the nonprofit legally incorporated as Childhood and AI Lab, a US 501(c)(3).

The Childhood and AI Lab
The research program of AIChildSafety.org. Its central activity is the Childhood and AI Lab Research Fellowship – 66 researchers in 23 countries studying AI's effects on children's development, launched in February 2026. The Lab shares its name with the nonprofit's legal name; in everyday use, the Lab is the research program and AIChildSafety.org is the organization.

AI4SocialImpact
My consulting practice, and the vehicle for social-sector engagements: responsible AI adoption for nonprofits, NGOs, foundations, and public agencies, from strategy through implementation. Where AIChildSafety.org asks whether AI is safe for children, AI4SocialImpact helps mission-driven organizations put AI to work responsibly.

At Save the Children (2018–2025) I built the global Technology for Development practice and founded the Safe Digital Childhood initiative, serving most recently as Global Lead for Protection from Digital Harm. At FHI 360 (2012–2018) I founded and directed the TechLab. Before that came a decade of community technology and social enterprise, including the Zoltner Consulting Group in Santiago, Chile.
