Tercera Conferencia Ministerial sobre la Sociedad de la Información

RPP reports that DatAgro, a text-message project for Chilean farmers, won the FRIDA prize in the productive sector category at the Third Ministerial Conference on the Information Society, held in Lima from 21 to 23 November 2010. The FRIDA prize recognizes digital innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The article explains that DatAgro sends farmers market prices, weather information, agricultural and plant-health information, and news by text message. It runs on the Mobile Information Platform (MIP), which DataDyne.org conceived, and the article says The Zoltner Consulting Group is responsible for carrying it out in Chile.

The same platform is used for SaludMóvil, a text-message project for health workers in Peru. The article says SaludMóvil was recognized in Peru as the best mobile health project by the World Summit Mobile Award jury that year.
